Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. My name is Precious, but most people call me by my middle name, Peculiar, as they feel it fits me better. I personally believe both names suit me perfectly. I am 20 years old, and I am currently living with my mother, my 16-year-old brother, my 6-year-old sister, and my dog in Richards Bay which is a town in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. My dad, unfortunately, passed away on the 1st of April 2021. I am currently studying towards my higher certificate in paralegal practice and will achieve it in December. In my spare time, I love to write. In 2020 I entered and won a competition among school pupils where they featured my writing in a published book called ‘Learning Under Lockdown Voices of South Africa’s Children’ compiled by Jonathan Jansen and Emily O’Ryan. I often write poems, short stories, and fairy tales that my sister and I have fun acting out together. Along with writing, I love reading. My favourite novel is ‘The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I am especially excited to have access to larger and more diverse libraries to browse through all the literature I like. I would love to become your next Au Pair because I love children and enjoy spending time learning, playing, and growing with them. I am fully aware that being like an older sister to them will come with responsibilities and will not always be just fun and games, but I am confident my patience and creativity will help me to master tricky situations for instance when the children are anxious or do not want to listen to me. Though I know my experience helping to raise my sister is entirely different from taking care of children 24/7 I am sure that I will be able to quickly adapt to the new routine and become a super-efficient addition to your family. I am extremely easy to live with as I am not a demanding person. I understand that the house is your house, and I will respect the rules you have set for it. If there were to be a disagreement, I would prefer to talk about things thoroughly than ignore them. I have always been passionate about self-expression, embracing one's individuality, and leading with kindness. I hope to be able to help your children express their unique personalities creatively and safely as I care for them. I am also aware that I will have to assist with daily household tasks and the preparation of meals. I am used to doing household tasks on a daily basis.
