From the 1st of January 2020, the au pairs who change host families in Norway will be able to move to a new host family as soon as they complete the application on the UDI's Visa Portal and book an appointment at the police. The au pair can start performing his/her tasks in the host family if the other conditions of the permit have been fulfilled. The receipt from the application portal will be the only practical document which will prove that the application has been registered. The au pairs must keep the receipts of registered application and the fee paid for the booked appointment at the police in case they are subject to scrutiny. The period of time spent with the new host family while the application is being processed is included in the total time of residence as an au pair.
