From 1 April 2019 the host family must give the au pair a minimum of 5.900 NOK per month as pocket money/salary (before taxes). In addition, the host family must pay a minimum of 8.850 NOK per year (740 NOK per month) for the au pair’s Norwegian language course and study materials.
This applies to all host families and au pairs, including those who have signed a contract with lower rates, as the level of au pairs pocket money shall be adjusted every time when the UDI adjusts the minimum rates.
The host family shall also cover such travel expenses as are necessary in connection with the au pair attending Norwegian language courses.
