At least one of the parents in families who wish to have an au pair, must now complete an e-learning course. This is a requirement for all applications which are handed in after 15 February 2016.
In the e-learning course the future host parents will learn about the purpose of the au pair scheme and the rights and obligations which they and the au pair have.
Also those who have previously been host parents must complete the course, if they are going to have a new au pair, or if their au pair is going to apply for renewal of their au pair permit.
When the host parents have completed the course, they will receive a course certificate by email. The au pair must hand in the certificate together with the other application documents to the police, the embassy/consulate or the Visa Application Centre.
